Captain Profile: Kenia, Supporting and Motivating My Team

Kenia is the SRLA Captain at Bright Star Secondary School. As a High School Senior, she is training to complete her fifth marathon with SRLA this season. During a year of distance learning, Kenia is dedicated to supporting and motivating her teammates to be the best version of themselves.

What motivated you to join SRLA?

I was motivated to join SRLA because I wanted to be active and involved in school.

What motivated you to become an SRLA Captain?

I was motivated to become SRLA Captain because I like helping people. I like supporting my teammates to become better runners and improve on their stamina.

What has been your biggest challenge so far as Captain? How did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge has been staying motivated during a world wide pandemic. A way I have overcome that is by staying in touch with other people in the team, while motivating and supporting one another.

What is one thing you want to accomplish as Captain?

One thing I want to accomplish as captain is to inspire my teammates to try their best and to not be brought down by a faster runner. They are the best they can be and they should be proud of what they have achieved.
