Kerlyn: Exceeding Your Expectations

Kerlyn is new to SRLA this season, in this weeks blog she reflects on how challenging herself to run farther has helped her cope with difficulties of distance learning.

This is my first year running with SRLA, and the first time I’ve done the long run. Since elementary, I always identified myself as a sprint runner rather than a long-distance runner. I settled with the idea that I can’t run longer than a 400-meter dash.

As a virtual student, it hasn’t been that thrilling or exciting to wake up because you will just sit and face your screen half of the day. I think being a part of SRLA this semester has been by far the best thing I’ve ever done. It has been fulfilling to run longer than I expect from myself. And that’s the best thing, exceeding your expectations; all our lives we raise the bar higher than what we can reach, now I know that I can be better than what everyone nor I expect me to be.
