Captain Profile: Alexis
Alexis is a senior at CNCA Dalzell and this seasons SRLA captain. This March he will be completing his second Los Angeles marathon. Alexis answered some questions so we could get to know him better.
What motivated you to join SRLA?
What motivated me to join SRLA was to be able to do what I enjoy which is running and getting to meet new people within my school and outside. I was also motivated by the thought of the incredible people throughout all the races that give you that extra push of strength into crossing the finish line at all the races.
What motivated you to become an SRLA Captain?
What motivated me to become an SRLA captain is that I love being a leader as well as a team player. I am also an extrovert that enjoys taking the lead and helping my coaches with the team necessities.
What has been your biggest challenge so far as Captain? How did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been managing time as a senior and the duties of being captain. I have overcome this by communicating with my teammates and coaches.
What is one thing you want to accomplish as Captain?
One thing I want to accomplish as captain is get to know my teammates very well, even our freshmen in the team as well as develop my leadership skills to a bigger extent.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I am very excited to be captain this year and work with my team to run all the SRLA races. Every year it is another exciting time, especially with races and the such great people that accompany us and cheer us on including parents, friends and staff.
