Milo: Making Friends on the Run
Milo is a 10h grader a Franklin High School working currently training for his second Los Angeles Marathon marathon with SRLA. He will be running the Rose Bowl Half Marathon this weekend. Join us in cheering Milo on to the finish line!
What motivated you to join SRLA?
To be honest, I knew I had a strong mindset and could run a marathon but the real reason I joined (at least in my first year) was to get a free sweatshirt.
What is your favorite memory (so far!) from SRLA?
My favorite memory from SRLA was finishing the Los Angeles marathon with my closest of friends and seeing all of the people who took time out of their lives to come out a support and cheer for all the runners.
What has been your biggest challenge as an SRLA Runner? How did you overcome it?
Last year’s season, which was virtual in that we didn’t run as a team on weekdays, was particularly difficult for me because I have difficulty running on my own. I’m a very social person and so having to go out every day and run on my own was difficult. Me and some friends were able to set up dates and run together so we could see each other and also have an easier time running.
What is one of your goals in SRLA?
I want to finish the marathon in 6 hours, and be able to support my friends who I run with so we can all have the best time we can.
What is something about SRLA that brings you joy?
The pride that I get when I finish a long race. So little people get out and move their bodies and the fact that I can exert my body and endure so much makes me proud.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I think SRLA is an amazing program that has benefited me mentally and physically
