Captain Profile: Eliee, Challenging My Teammates
Eliee is a senior and the SRLA captain at Taft High School. He enjoys inspiring his teammates and encouraging them to challenge themselves.
What motivated you to join SRLA?
I always enjoyed running throughout my youth. So, when I learned about SRLA, I just knew I had to join.
What motivated you to become an SRLA Captain?
After running 4 marathons, I felt as if I had acquired some wisdom on how to improve a person's running experience for the marathon. Thus I took it upon myself to relay this information to other runners.
What has been your biggest challenge so far as Captain? How did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge as Captain so far is being a bit injured. It gets hard when you want to run your hardest with the other people in your group, but your body won't let you. I've overcome this by realizing that I must be patient in order to get healthy again.
What is one thing you want to accomplish as Captain?
The one thing I want to accomplish as Captain is to help everyone's times improve from the previous races(if they ran last year). I will encourage them to do even better and give them tips on how to achieve this goal.
Fun facts about Eliee:
Do you listen to music while you run? Yes, music all the way!
Sidewalk or trails? Trails
Water or sports drink? Water
One thing I can't run without is... a water bottle
My favorite place to run is… Balboa Park
My favorite post-run snack is… pretzels
The best part of every race is… the finish line
