With the many changes 2020 has brought, SRLA has transitioned to a virtual season, and more importantly, a virtual community. Although virtual, our leaders still believe it is crucial to train together, while apart. The discipline, routine, camaraderie, and support that SRLA provides our students is ever important amidst the unpredictable course of COVID-19. Here is what some of our dedicated leaders had to say about the transition and their commitment to see it through.

We will join hands, virtually.
— Mike Sheehan (Dorsey; Los Angeles Marathon Legacy Runner)

Bad things happen, and we must all continue on. While students may not meet in person, it is important for SRLA to continue to model resilience, commitment, and possibility for students, their families, and us as leaders.

- Tracy Carness (Alliance CRMA-4)

in any circumstance, the purpose of SRLA is to BE THERE for the youth. students feel love and care, despite the distance… that is what SRLA is about. The tougher the challenge, the more growth, the more power.

-Herber Marquez (MACES)

I want to continue to help students see that there is always a way!
— Antonia Guzman (Legacy High School)

If we cAn connect virtually, it is a reminder that we are not in this alone. We are in this together, and we are in it for the long run!

-Gabe Cedillo (Kennedy High School)

It is important that SRLA continue to provide students with a sense of community and team while living in a time of uncertainty.

-Jennifer Kelly (Port of LA High School)

Students need to be engaged in physical activity at such a time as this for the sake of their physical and also mental health.

-Barb Jepson (John R. Wooden High School)

Participating in SRLA virtually allows students to connect with one another and encourage one another when needed most.

-Liliana Tang (Blair High School)

Community. Purpose. Fitness.
— Brian Pfeffer (Animo South LA)
