This year Daniel is an SRLA Runner and his school’s ASB President.

This year Daniel is an SRLA Runner and his school’s ASB President.

Like 52% of our runners this year, Daniel is new to SRLA this season! In this week’s blog he reflects on why he chose to join SRLA during these challenging times and what he hopes to gain from the experience.

My name is Daniel, SRLA Member for the 2020 - 2021 School Year and ASB President at Fairfax Senior High School. I would LOVE to share my story for the blog as it would be an honor to do so with pride for my school, community, and SRLA.

Daniel is new to SRLA this season but he is excited to bond with his teammates at training runs and events.

For SRLA, this is my first and final year as part of this wonderful community at Fairfax Senior High. For my last year, I wanted to challenge myself for the better by getting in shape, further developing my Leadership skills, and getting to know more people to connect at my school to make new friendships and bonds virtually. With the training runs and kilometer runs as well, it is enjoyable to push myself beyond my limits of what I could do a few months back and prove that I can accomplish tasks from being in ASB, helping students, and really show that SRLA is all about with out tight bonds. It has helped me prepare for the world today by continuing our school bonds online, communicating with tasks, and still being determined to be in it for the long run even though we we apart during these circumstances.

From experiences and what is going on right now, I believe the way that SRLA is going to impact me doing this year virtually is that it is going to help advance my leadership and communication skills to the maximum ability possible by being able to communicate with members, getting my assignments in, and truly showing how we can go through these times together virtually. It also helps me stay active during these circumstances and on the spot to do whatever needs to be done for my school, community, and program. Thank you SRLA for this opportunity and I look forward to this!
