Emily: Running with the SRLA Family

β€œMy experience throughout SRLA was nothing but exciting adventures, from meeting new people to visiting new and bizarre places in California. Running has become a part of me and the best part about it is that at every race my mom was there supporting me and at the end she was always there to congratulate and show how proud she is. I am grateful to be her daughter and thanks to her I was able to run 26.2 miles, which is something I would have never thought of doing in my entire life. I was also persuaded and encouraged by my two coaches, Ms. Edmond and Mr. Jimenez. They have taught me everything I know, been there for me, and helped me achieve many things including finishing the marathon. I believe that they are the best and deserve to be recognized. Thanks to them, I am who I am. I may be small but I am a force to be reckoned with.”

Mom Linda also shared how she felt about being a part of the SRLA family:

β€œI would like to thank SRLA for your support and for everything you do for the children. As a mother, I feel grateful towards you because you are part of my daughter’s achievements and I don’t know how to thank you. It is my first year as part of the SRLA family and it has been an unforgettable experience that I will with no doubt repeat for the next couple of years. Because of this, I was able to meet new people, including Ms. Edmond and Mr. Jimenez, who are incredible people and coaches. There are no words to explain what a great job they have done and how much they have helped my daughter. I am really proud of my daughter and every time I see her crossing the finish line I feel so much excitement and happiness. I wanted to share this with you because I know that there are many parents who feel the same way I do. May we continue supporting our children, but over all we need to continue supporting the excellent job that SRLA has done. Thank you.”
