Senior Stories: Fabian, Anything is Possible
Students Run LA has pushed me to work harder and more diligently on any task given to me. When I joined freshman year, I was unaware of how difficult running one miles was, let alone 26.2. I could not even run one complete mile without having to stop and rest in between. It was very difficult for me at first, but I was determined to accomplish my goal.
As each race approached, I tried my hardest to finish the race without stopping even once. It was tough and sometimes painful, but it was something I had to prove to myself. I did accomplish my goal to run all 26.2 miles of the Marathon without stopping. This was the first major achievement I accomplished in SRLA.
My determination, however, did not stop at the marathon. I continued to apply the same ideals to my work ethic. Whenever I stumbled upon a hard problem on a test, I did not give up. If I had a complicated project due in a week, I did not refrain from doing it. I work hard at the task at hand and do not stop unless I get what I want. SRLA has taught me to set my goals and be ambitious. I strive only to succeed and will do anything morally possible to achieve my goals. SRLA has made a goal setter, a go-getter, and a high achiever.
SRLA has really prompted me to set new goals that I could not have dreamt possible. One of these goals was to get accepted to UCLA. Coming from a rough part of town, I had low hopes I would get into this college. But through the introduction of SRLA, I realized even what may seem impossible can be made possible. I made it my goal to get into my dream school. And with hard work, persistence, and goal-oriented focus, I finally achieved my dream to get admitted into UCLA.
I am fortunate to have been introduced to SRLA. The program has taught me one of life's most important lessons, if you set your mind to it, anything is possible.
