Leader Spotlight: Mr. Dorf – GRIT

Q: Where are you a SRLA leader? How many years have you been with SRLA and what brought you to us? 
A: I am a leader at Madrid Middle School. This will be my 4th year. Every year before I became a leader, I would see students wearing their marathon sweatshirts to school. I said someday that will be me.

Q: What is your day job? 
A: I am a 8th grade history teacher.

Q:What is your favorite training tip, quote, or words of advice that you share with your students? 
A: GRIT: passion, toughness, and dedication

Q: What has been your favorite SRLA event of all time? 
A: The Pasadena Half Marathon.

Q: What is the best thing about SRLA in your opinion? 
A: Seeing the students expressions after they finish the marathon.

Q: What’s something that people might be surprised to learn about you?
A: As Coach Wooden says, always do something for someone and expect nothing in return. This is a daily reminder for me.

Q: Do you have a favorite teaching/mentoring moment you’d like to share?
A: Students would say thank you for pushing us through this season and not giving up on us.

Q: What three words might your students use to describe you? 
A: Consistent, passionate, and supportive
