Senior Stories: Kevin, The Importance of Being Healthy
Kevin, a five time Marathon finisher, graduated from Venice High School. He will be attending Cal State Long Beach this fall and plans on continuing to train for the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon again next year. Through SRLA he learned the importance of healthy eating and exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Participating in SRLA has provided me with the opportunity to be a more fit person and a
healthier person. Before doing SRLA, I ate a lot of junk food and only exercised during PE.
During 7th grade I had the chance to do something more, run the LA Marathon. When I became a high schooler, I discovered that I could continue my journey to completing more LA Marathons. I was part of a club that had thousands of other students and many more inspirational leaders and other supporters.
Being a part of SRLA showed me the importance of being healthy. It helped me change from a boy who didn’t care about my health to a man who wanted to be healthy and wanted to run more. In fact, now that SRLA is over, I can prove to myself that I learned and that I can accomplish many more things in life and stay healthy. I am still overweight, but running has helped me work hard to stay healthy and to eat more greens, especially before races. I will continue running and have already signed up for the LA Marathon in 2019.
