Coordinator Position #2

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Coordination & Management:

·       Implement and follow the goals, philosophy and purpose of the organization as a whole

·       Along with other Coordinators, reach out to new groups to provide training and instruction to ensure compliance with the overall program goals

·       Provide expertise in program development, training skills and implementation of program issues in accordance with the goals and philosophy of SRLA

·       When possible, be available to promote and discuss the vision, goals and accomplishments of the program to funders, the media and other interested parties

·       Be available as a resource for New Leader questions and concerns as well as site visits when necessary 

SRLA Cares:

·       Establish objectives and goals for the SRLA Cares program

·       Suggest projects to be implemented by SRLA groups to achieve those objectives and goals

·       Participate in the collection and/or management of contributions

·       Participate in communicating to the Leaders the timetable and goals of SRLA Cares

·       Help with organizing the collection and recycling of designated items

·       Participate in organizing and recruiting volunteers for SRLA Cares activities

·       Participate in liasing with charitable organizations accepting SRLA Cares donations

·       Encourage the acknowledgment of the group Team Captains

·       Participate in the selection and award the nominees for the SRLA Cares Star Awards

·       Participate in arranging any gifts or presentations for the SRLA Cares Award

Race Supervision:

·       Along with the other Coordinators, divide up primary responsibility for each race and liaise with the event coordinator and SRLA Program Director

·       Assist in handling any race-day problems and concerns relating to SRLA participants

·       The Friendship Run 30K race over-sight is to include SRLA registration, on-course concerns, student pacing and pick-up

·       Along with the other Coordinators, develop and implement supportive and intervening strategies to address pacing challenges and concerns

·       Provide and oversee the set up, break down and operation of games at SRLA events as requested and agreed to in advance, including the organization and recruitment of volunteers

In conjunction with the SRLA Office, participate in the development of Materials, Meetings, Conferences, and Celebrations:

·       Participate in the organization and presentation of the Annual Leaders’ Conference

·       Participate in bi-weekly Coordinator meetings (usually on Thursday afternoons for 2 hours)

·       Participate in the design, coordination, and delivery of the bi-monthy Leader Meetings (usually on Wednesday afternoons) and be available for questions and answers, as well as to help with setup and breakdown at the meeting site

·       Present all SRLA Cares information and necessary follow-up for the Leaders

 Los Angeles Marathon:

·       Participate in the distribution of materials in support of SRLA’s Pre and Post Marathon meetings and check-in and checkout process.

·       Along with another Coordinator, arrange the rental truck and set-up needs for the group equipment storage for the day

·       Drive or accompany the truck from Dodger Stadium to SRLA marathon headquarters

·       Coordinate with the Transportation crew for set up of storage bags on-site

·       Communicate with SRLA leaders, staff, students, students’ parents, and venue staff, when necessary, over the course of the day

·       Be responsible for the organization, arrangement and provisioning of the marathon course aid stations in advance of the day

·       Coordinate with an on-site location for Mile 22 needs

·       Provide the arrangement of and delivery, support and distribution of materials to the SRLA Finisher Staging Area and SRLA Marathon course Aid Stations

 Distribution of Shoes and Clothing:

·       The Coordinators, along with other staff and volunteers, will participate in the management and distribution of the marathon uniforms, shoe orders, training t-shirts, and Marathon finisher items

·       In conjunction with Staff, other Coordinators, and delivery agencies, manage the stocking and storage of shoes, uniforms, and Marathon finisher items

·       At distribution events, and in conjunction with the other Coordinators, meet individually with the Leaders as needed to encourage efficient roster management and ascertain accuracy of roster numbers and materials received

·       Along with Staff and other Coordinators, manage inventory control and organization of materials at distribution point

·       Arrange assistance for, and the organization of, the actual shoe count and distribution to Leaders of shoes from storage

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

·       At least five (5) years of experience leading an SRLA group.

·       In-the-classroom experience preferred.

·       Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

·       Part-time position (FLSA: Non-Exempt).

·       Reports to Executive Director.
