SRLA Cares
SRLA Cares raises social, environmental, and community awareness through various community projects throughout the training season. SRLA Cares provides an opportunity for SRLA students to give back to their communities both large and small.
Here’s how Luis, a 2016 SRLA high school graduate and SRLA Scholarship recipient, described the impact of participating in SRLA Cares:
I’ve been inspired by the generosity of SRLA, through the opportunity to participate in smaller races before the marathon. In every race, each school is encouraged to partake in SRLA Cares, focused on bringing a specific item to give back to the community. Before my exposure to this, I have never truly understood the importance of providing a lending hand. Therefore, in my transition to high school, I entered with a state of mind of doing something similar. Over the course of my four years in high school, I have earned over 300 hours of community [service]…. SRLA does a lot for the community and I aimed to do the same.
