23/24 Impact Report

As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of Students Run LA (SRLA), we are thrilled to share the incredible accomplishments of over 3,100 students during the 2023-2024 season. This year, SRLA continued its mission to close the play equity gap in Los Angeles County, particularly among underserved communities of color.

We are proud to report that 99% of SRLA students who started the LA Marathon finished it, demonstrating the physical and mental fortitude fostered through our program. We’ve also made significant strides in empowering Latina teens, the least active demographic group in LA County, with 84% of our female participants being Latina.

This is my first year of SRLA and I have never wanted to continue something so badly. Now that the SRLA season is coming to an end, I can NOT wait to return and run with my younger sister and friend.

Beyond the race course, SRLA students have excelled inside the classroom, with 60.2% of our students improving their grades. Our seniors continued the tradition of academic achievement, with 98.7% graduating high school and 93.5% planning to attend college. Notably, 75% of these college-bound students will be the first in their families to do so. These accomplishments reflect their determination, resilience, and the unwavering support they've received through SRLA.

Finally, SRLA continues to strengthen the mental health and sense of belonging among our students, with 90% of them reporting that SRLA helped them to create meaningful connections in their lives.

Your support is crucial in making all of this possible. Together, we are transforming lives, one step at a time.

We invite you to dive deeper into these stories of impact and more in our full 2023-2024 Impact Report here.
