Andrew: Becoming a Better Version of Myself

Andrew is in 10th grade at Animo Ralph Bunch. He is training to complete his third marathon with Students Run LA.

What motivated you to join SRLA?

What motivated me to join SRLA was being able to have a healthy lifestyle. SRLA was an opportunity for me to be the person I can make myself to be.

What is your favorite memory (so far!) from SRLA?

My favorite memory from SRLA has to be the first race I ever attended. It was a 10k in 2018, the best part I can remember was looking in front of me and seeing hundreds of students like me trying to complete the same goal, it was so motivating.

What has been your biggest challenge as an SRLA Runner? How did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge as an SRLA runner would have to be injury. The only way I overcame that big challenge was resting the injured body part, like massaging the part that bothered me, and having to listen to my coaches on remedies to heal my injuries

What is one of your goals in SRLA?
One of my goals in SRLA is being able to be a better version of myself after every obstacle. Being a better version of myself is a significant goal for me because that way I'm able to grow as a person to help others and myself.

What is something about SRLA that brings you joy?

Something that brings me joy in SRLA would have to be meeting new people, whether it be people from your team or at races. It can either be small talk while standing at the starting line or making a new friend while out on the course, those are the time that SRLA brings me joy.
