2017 Alumni Run Ambassadors!

28 years and running strong! Students Run LA is celebrating its alumni at its 2nd Annual Alumni Fun Run on Sunday, June 11th in Griffith Park.

Helping us spread the word about this fun event are 5 Alumni Run Ambassadors. They share a little more about themselves below:

My name is Carlos Aldape. and I joined SRLA as a sophomore at Roosevelt High School back in 2008. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2014 to then focus pursuing a medical career. Currently, I work for the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and USC Keck Medicine in the histopathology department for cancer treatment and research.

“Once a runner, always a runner” is Jackelyn’s mantra. Jackelyn began her running career at 11 years old with Students Run LA guiding her through her first marathon and she hasn’t stopped running since. Jackelyn ran Cross Country & Track and ran with SRLA at John Marshall High School. She continued her running career with Humboldt State’s Cross Country and Track Team where she ran with the big redwood trees, endless trails, and cold coastal beaches and doubled majored in Ethnic Studies & Urban Planning. Her running shoes go everywhere she goes, and she is excited to take them to the 2nd Annual Alumni run on June 11, 2017.

My name is Jennifer Corona. I am 37 years old and grew up in Highland Park. I went to Franklin High School and joined Students Run LA in 1994 and did the 1995, 1996, and 1997 marathons with Students Run LA. I had so much fun, and I still like to run a few half marathons a year to keep up my training. I currently work for the LA City Fire Department as a Management Assistant and also work on weekends as a Concession Supervisor for The Forum. I have also worked at Dodgers Stadium and Staples Center. I have a 15 year old son named Damian and we do races together but also enjoy going to Dodger Games, Disneyland and other amusement parks together!! I will definitely continue to run as long as I can and I am happy to be selected as Ambassador for SRLA’s Alumni 5k!!

My name is KIT John, and I am the founder of Movement Runners. I started Movement Runners about 2 1/2 years ago for runners who are brand-new to running. I want them to come out and feel comfortable running for the first time with experienced runners, and runners that have not run quite not so often.

The goal is to promote a daily lifestyle –  I’m not just about running but consistently doing a physical activity every day. We run about 2 to 3 times a week in Inglewood. Every third Saturday of the month, we get together and get donations for skid Row. We donate toilet paper, bananas, water, feminine hygiene products, deodorant etc.

My name is Tianna Marshall. I’m a Food Science Major at CSUN entering my senior year. I’ve run 20 marathons and have been a part of SRLA since 2005 and it changed my life. I decided to hang up my SRLA singlets after this past marathon because I’m starting the journey of Ultra runningbut will never forget SRLA because it’s where my passion for running began.
