Meet Carl, a senior at Polytechnic High School, who is participating in SRLA for the first time this school year. During his SRLA Journey this year Carl has found a second family in his teammates. Read this week’s blog to learn more about Carl’s experience.

This week we are highlighting Fernanda, a ninth grader at Girls Leadership Academy! This is her first season running with SRLA and she is aiming to run the LA Marathon for this first time with her teammates, this March.

This past Saturday, SRLA handed out over 3,500 pairs of running shoes to our students and leaders. These shoes, generously donated by Nike, mark an important milestone for SRLA students - the halfway point in their training for the Los Angeles Marathon. We asked students to reflect on what the gift of shoes meant to them.

Meet Fabiola! She is a 12th grader at Angel’s Gate High School and is training to complete her first marathon this year. Through her SRLA journey she is learning how the importance of consistency in reaching her goals.
