Annual Volunteer Opportunities
Season Kick-off and 5K
This is the annual kick-off event for the season. This is the first time all the runners from the 170 different schools and programs will be have a training run together. The event usually consists of a short run and brief welcome and introduction to SRLA by the co-founders.
3,000 students along with their volunteer teacher/leaders will take on the backlot of Universal Studios in order to complete this critical 9.3 mile training distance. Runners will need volunteer support on the course and at the finish line.
The 18-mile Friendship run is an event put on by SRLA each season as a way of offering this training distance to the student runners and community runners training for the ASICS LA Marathon. It is one of the most crucial events of the season as part of the training and usually takes place at Hansen Dam Recreation Area in Sylmar.
